A couple more MiniScapes while I try to figure out how to get Photoshop onto this here machine.
Top one from my Aunt K's house. Bottom two are from Long's Park in Lancaster, PA. Visited there about a month ago-ish for Sharon's Senior Show and we got to go do some drawing. I've started on a new project in watercolor, so hopefully that goes well. Scanned in the first one. These are gonna be tiny. At least to start. Also did another of my Eatables pieces. I think this one is really great. Artichokes. Posting that tomorrow I hope. At least this week.

In other news, I think I just sold a bunch of Barbie dolls. Stay tuned for more about this exciting transaction.

Omg. An update.

So. First: the art. These are the pieces I meant to upload forever ago. The one up there is the last in my Eatables series of that time. I may bick the idea back up, but not right now.

The ones below are a set of Mini Landscapes I had done last summer. I have some from this summer to post tomorrow or tonight. It depends on when I get them scanned in. But yeah. I've been using these mostly as a way to practice working in marker. Except the one at dusk. Graphite seemed the best way to go there.

Other news: I have a laptop! My parents helped be use my savings and purchase a Sony Vaio. It is sexy. And powerful. And I love it. We also upgraded our internet, which makes it easier for me to do all my online business. Like updating things and selling on Etsy.

Oh yeah. I have two Etsy stores. One is for selling craft supplies and vintage dolls and whatnot.

Yeah. It's May. And February was the last time I posted. To be fair, I have been busy and not having my desktop acknowledging the internet make me not do as many things for myself. Like keep up on my blog or scan pictures I've been meaning to scan. I also have more drawings to post. I'll get there eventually. Only 2 days of work this week, which kind of sucks, but then again we've gotten a ton of stuff done around the house. I'm hoping to get something posted before work tomorrow, since I don't go in until 3. Also I need to link this to facebook so people know I have a blog and might read it.

Aww yeah, more arts. I haven't actually eaten these yet. I need some more ranch dressing. But I do enjoy radishes. I'm working on some fan-arty stuff at the moment. Got my plates ready to start printing, but got distracted my making some sales on my Etsy page and getting more stuff uploaded there and packing up some other stuff and doing my Wii Fit and working on Etsy led to browsing Etsy and yeah. Gonna try to collage tonight for reals. I have stuff cut. I just need to glue it. OMG Why am procrastinating so much? I have half my portfolio for Chautauqua together. I just need to do prints. And to do that I need to buy ink. And I need money for that. Which is why I'm refocusing my efforts on Etsy. Oh man my W2 for CVS can't get here quick enough. I needs to file my taxes.

I am getting so good at this! But yeah. Here's another Eatable and a print design. It's a Sharon with a Piplup head. I've got a few more and as soon as I get my sharpening stone, I can make a block and start carving Sharon. That sounds weird now that I think about it. I am super excited! But I can't do more watercolor until I get my paper I ordered and I can't scan them until I replace a couple Prisma Markers. I need more French Grey 10%. That's my shadow color and I drained it on these last few guys. So tomorrow's payday and I can order them. Awesome.

Well there's the last of the Food I Ate, and the next two are the evolution of that idea, becoming more like drawings than watercolors, but I'm still including watercolor because I don't have all the necessary Prisma Markers to do all marker. More playing with line and pushing my drawings to relate to my prints. That's it for tonight, but I'll be back sooner this time. For realz.

Well it hasn't been as long as I thought it had since I've updated, but I guess I should do that now. I really need to keep up on this blog. If I was on here as much as I'm on Facebook, I'd have a book deal by now. But yeah. I have more art to post and I'm going to apply to the Chautauqua School of Art for this summer. I'm super excited. I need something like this to reinvigorate my creativity. Trying to put together my portfolio already has. I'm gonna go back to my collaging after I finish this and uploads arts. But yeah. If anyone's out there, I'm alive and productive.

Why Macs?

I'm trying to make this blog more about my art, but there is one question related to my industry that Google can't find and no one can seem to answer:

When (and why) did artist decide Macs should be the industry standard?

Now, I'm not saying Macs are bad computers, or that they don't run what they need to run. I'm personally more of a PC girl, but that's more of an experience/price issue. I'm not trying to spark a Mac/PC debate. I honestly want to know WHEN and WHY. There must have been some factor in the past that made artists ultimately decide that Macs work better for them and since then they have become the standard.

But whenever I try to find out, I either end up in a cesspool of idiots raging at each other over an OS, or people actually start comparing specs and I find out that it really doesn't matter which one I use for the programs, but since Mac is the standard, I should have a Mac.

Was there a point in time where the Mac surpassed the PC for artistic applications? When? And now that essentially it doesn't matter which platform you work on and performance will be about the same, why does the industry have it out for people who refuse to shell out the cash for "user friendly" and a pretty face?

Must do more...

I've finally got something for the next YorkArts show. I'm actually excited about something now. I just need to work out the exact logistics, but I think it could work really well. Won't go into too much detail yet, because I still need to figure them out, but the multi-layered portrait from my senior show is a hint of things to come.

I've finally been able to sit down and upload some stuff. Right here we have my work from the Senior Show. Very large linocut prints. 22 by 32. Very exciting.

I'll be posting more art in the next day or so. maybe even later today. I dunno. I think it's time to get the ball rolling on being a professional artist instead of just being a recent graduate.

Actually, I'm trying to get better at updating, I really am. Not having internet on my desktop PC and not having my own laptop here makes it really difficult to be on the interwebs as much as I used to and therefore I just check the important stuff and cracked.com whenever I borrow (ie. steal) Ted's or Liz's Mac. So hopeflly that'll change by next week and I can start posting more often here about the state of my career (or lack thereof thus far) and post some artworks. And eventually other people will actually care if I update often enough.

'Allo 'allo. So it's been a while. Haven't even cared to write anything all summer. I'm back in school and trying to brainstorm for Heidi's professional practices class. I'm trying to come up with "goals for my future." The thing is, I don't know what I want to do. My plans cover the yearTed's a senior, but nothing past that. I am clueless. I don't know if I want my masters. I don't know where I want to go. I am really lost, but at least I'm starting to get back on track with my artwork. For a while there I was pretty frustrated with everything I tried to do. I hate the paintings I did last semester, as well as most of the drawings. And with senior studio starting up, Ive got a new motivation to figure out my passion. Not to mention my internship with Kevin Lehman. He's got a ceramics studio a few blocks down the street and I am really excited to get started. Unfortunately, it'll have to wait until next week since I have my last shift at KB this Saturday. I still really don't want to leave, but with my schedule this year, it'll be impossible to hold both KB and Borders down and do my internship and get homework done and anyhting else I might need to do. Ugh. I'm gonna either get used to going this much, or I'm going to crash and burn. We'll see.

We're also trying to move. Damned roaches have taken over both here at Ted's and at my apartment. None of us can take it anymore. So we're looking for a house. We've found a couple we like, but we need to get a move on if we want to actually move into one of these places. They're either available now, of the 1st of October, which is soon. I'll get their asses in gear.

Long time, no see

As you can see, I haven't posted anything in a while. Just read my last blog, and, you guessed it, student council has taken up a decent portion of my time. So has the Junior portfolio review, Christmas, new semester/new homework, spring break, and the rest of my life. So here I finally am, with some time and the will to write, and what I'm really supposed to be doing is stuff for Jay. Oh well.

Well, I guess I should just start with the holidays. Thanksgiving with Ted's family was nice, but not long enough of a break, and considering I had to work Black Friday, not too bad. Ted bought me the special golden Triforce DS and Phantom Hourglass and I love it.

Christmas at home was nice for the most part. No Charlie, but there was baby Frankie. And he was old enough to be fun, so I played with him. I actually attended the alumni lunch my high school has every year and realized that I should have skipped out on it. I enjoyed talking to Mr Rinderle, Emily and Kristi, but that's really it. Got lots of clothes that I needed badly and some Little Mermaid treasures amongst all the crap that was Grandma Root's. She went into a home since I was there in the summer. Got pretty bad. I visited her once, and she didn't even realize we were there. It would make me sad if it weren't for the fact that I was never really that close to her. I was Poppo's girl. So all in all, not too bad. Made me miss the Christmases of years past, though.

The new semester started off really hectic, but slow. If that makes any sense. I have had all kinds of work, but since my junior review, I really don't feel like I've produced anything. Up until right before break painting was all prep drawings. Half a semester on preliminary work. Ugh. Drawing was Jay. And Hating Jay. And being pissed that not only did I have to put up with Jay again, but I had him for 2 different classes. And we had until right after break for 12 drawings four our bullshit suite, and I didn't get them all done. That's what I should be doing right now. And I don't care. I ended up dropping my lit class because of missing a couple classes and not having the book and having to write a page response for every class and getting up before 8 am. Unnecessary stress was removed. Printmaking is enjoyable, but even though we're always working in that class, I feel like we haven't done much, as I only have 2 finishes projects. And alternative illustration is going smoothly.

Spring break was spent at Ted's again this year. It was a week after we celebrated our anniversary. One year of dating. Wow. I'm really happy our relationship has gone this well. A bit over a year ago, I hadn't been in any relationships. Then I found myself in a mess. Then I found myself with Ted.

So right now I've got quite a bit on my mind:
1: Getting everything done for the end of the semester, which is in 4 or 5 weeks. I only have to finish Jay's suite and the other shit I have to do for his other class. Finish all 5 paintings for Snyder. Make it through the last two projects in alt. illustration. Getting the last and most complex print done and live up to my responsibilities as SC Prez, note taker for Nelson's art history class (and passing his class myself), Campus Central rep, and anything else life throws at me.
2: Trying to figure out my summer plans. And figuring our how I'm going to afford these plans. Purple Mug has been closed "for renovations" since mid December. And I really doubt they're going to reopen. So I need to find another second job so I can afford the train home in April and see Charlie while he's on leave, the three day trip to Amy's and day trips to NYC in those days in July, and the trip to Eve's for Otakon in August for three or four days. With a stop in Virginia first. I also need to complete my internship this summer. Which I need to actually get in contact with the guy myself. I've been going though Jen, just because I really have too much on my mind to try to get this going during the school year, and as long as I'm communicating with him by the end of this month, it should be fine.

So, I think we're all caught up now. I'm going to actually try to write more, as it helps me straighten things out in my head. And Lord knows that place is a mess. I'll at least update by mid April.

Slight improvements and Turkey Day.

I've kind of come to terms with the whole Student Council Prez thing now, but that doesn't mean I look forward to it. There's still quite a bit I have to do for classes, so I hope there's not much to do until after Christmas. There's a movie night and some little things, but otherwise... God I hope I don't need to bust my ass any more.

I'm getting some progress on my big projects, but I feel very behind. I don't think I'll have a problem getting everything done, it just feels like I'm going at the speed of snail. And I have another homework painting and a paper due next week. I just better actually do something this weekend. Besides work. Except that's all I ever do now on the weekend. Stupid schedule.

At least I have Thanksgiving to look forward to. I get to spend it in Virginia with Ted and have lots of food before working Black Friday. I can't wait to get the hell out of here. I'm fed up with the routine.

My 21st birthday is coming up soon. I would like to get some Smirnof Twisters and Mike's Hard Lemonade, but I don't want to get trashed. I really hate drinking to get drunk. Why put something in my body if it taste's gross?

This weekend I require a trip to the Halloween store and Salvation Army to get stuff for my costume for the party at school next week. I am having my loving Tedly take me and I am dressing as : Bob Ross. Yup. Happy trees, Joy of Painting Bob Ross.

Welcome to the world of blogging

I don't have too much time here, as I need to be off to work in about 15 minutes, but I need an intro of sorts. So mostly this is for personal use since myspace is boring and filled with annoying people, and facebook isn't exactly for blogs. Some of what I have to say will go on my deviantArt as well, but mainly here it will stay.

I got the idea to start my own blog from my roommates, who had to start one for an illustration class. It's been a while since I needed to spill about anything, but I started a response to one of my friends posts on myspace about her major, and it kept getting longer and longer as I thought of more things I felt I needed to say. There's so much I worry about and so much in my future that is truly unknown. I'm not sure what my future holds. There are so many factors that I need to take into account, and this is at the least, intimidating, and at most, frightening. So my goal here is to try and sort it all out for myself. Talk about my life, my relationships, and most importantly, my art. See if I can pull an answer out of my own head.
